About the New Orleans Chapter

The New Orleans Chapter is celebrating our 60th anniversary! The chapter was founded in 1949 and currently has approximately 200 members representing a variety of businesses, industries and organizations including insurance, shipbuilding, hospitality, construction, consulting, education and government.

Meetings are held the third Thursday of each month from September through May at local restaurants. Each meeting includes lunch, a guest speaker, and networking opportunities as well as discussions regarding chapter business and announcements. Membership in the ASSE, though recommended, is not necessary to participate. For specific meeting dates, locations and speakers visit our Calendar page.

Founded in 1911, ASSE is the oldest and largest professional safety organization. Its more than 32,000 members manage, supervise and consult on safety, health, and environmental issues in industry, insurance, government and education. ASSE is guided by a 16-member Board of Directors, which consists of 8 regional vice presidents; three council vice presidents; Society president, president-elect, senior vice president, vice president of finance and executive director. ASSE has 14 practice specialties, 151 chapters, 28 sections and 58 student sections.
