Responsibilities
Will provide process safety expertise to chemical plants throughout North America which will require at least 50% travel. Will develop strategies to ensure compliance and develop/implement programs to improve performance; monitor changes in regulatory requirements and provide analysis to the facilities; develop/deliver training; interface with regulatory agencies, trade associations and non-governmental agencies; develop communications related to Process Safety issues; provide expertise in the capital project review process to ensure the safe, environmentally sound and sustainable design & construction of facilities; provide incident investigation support to include root cause analysis.

This position is strategically positioned in the organization, reporting to the Director of Human Resources, with the full and dedicated commitment from the Owner & President and the General Manager to establish and maintain a World Class Safety and Accident Prevention Program.

Candidate should have experience leading a Safety & Accident Prevention Program in a manufacturing and/or fabrication and/or processing environment. Experience and a working knowledge of OSHA 1910 standards is required.
Successful candidate should have an accomplished track record in developing, managing, and coordinating a comprehensive Safety & Accident Prevention Program with knowledge and experience encompassing: safety training programs, internal auditing programs, and developing & maintaining Safe Work Practices.
Selected candidate must have strong interpersonal skills (including a willingness and desire to "sell" safety through education) to gain voluntary compliance throughout the manufacturing facility (250 total employees with five departments) and to work collaboratively with the company's Owner, General Manager, Directors, Department Superintendents, Staff, and Hourly Employees and to lead the Job Safety Committee (hourly employees).
Candidate must serve as an innovative, creative, patient, and persevering safety resource to all company managers, hourly employees, and staff to gain voluntary cooperation via teaching, coaching, safety education and researching, identifying, evaluating, and recommending solutions to eliminate hazards, unsafe conditions, and unsafe acts while supporting/enhancing/improving quality, production, and costs reductions.
Skills, abilities, and experience needed to develop, implement, coordinate, facilitate, and/or improve: 1) Accident investigations and identifying & eliminating hazards and/or corrective action. 2) Required Safety documentation and record keeping. 3) A facility wide Safety Audit Program to ensure continuous compliance. 4) Injury prevention procedures and methods including Safe Job Procedures/Job Task Analysis. 5) Required personal safety equipment and specifications for equipment. 6) Required safety training programs for all employees.
Successful candidate must have organizational, planning, and leadership skills and abilities to develop, lead, and manage the company's Safety and Accident Prevention Program which includes leading, coordinating, and directing the Job Safety Committee (hourly employees) for continuous improvements to ensure compliance.
Skills and abilities are needed to proactively manage the implementation and continuous improvement of employee safety education for all employees (hourly employees, managers, staff) and to collect and analyze safety data/statistics throughout the company to create meaningful/understandable reports to attain a World Class Safety and Accident Prevention program.
Candidate should have skills, abilities, and a willingness to serve as a "hands on" safety resource professional for the facility and all employees and to participate in emergency response activities while assuming the role of on scene response director during major accidents.
Successful candidate will assist and work collaboratively with the Director of Human Resources to monitor and reduce workers compensation claims.
